Day 2 Realtor Outfit: Doesn't This Jacket Inspire Total Trust and Confidence?

When I first got my Real Estate License back in 2005, I was very worried that I didn't LOOK like a Realtor. I had been working as a commercial carpenter for a year, and frankly, was looking a bit burly. My theory back then was that if I had some BIG JEWELRY and a few BOLD LONG JACKETS- people would KNOW I was a Realtor! They would assume I knew what I was talking about!

Nowadays, I DO know what I'm talking about and I have experience and confidence, but I notice that whenever I'm meeting someone new, wanting to project confidence, or distract from the fact that I'm wearing jeans- I bust out the big jewelry and the long bold jacket.

  1. I have a similarly styled jacket in Chinese silk brocade that is one of my "Author Speaking Engagement" jackets. Author drag and Realtor drag are a lot alike -- confident, commanding and just a little artsy, you know, to show that you have a creative side.

I like my jacket, but every time I wear it, my husband asks if I raided Little Richard's wardrobe trunk again.

  3. Stop hiding your lovely neck with turtle necks, they are lame and totally 1994. Which is a year that no one in fashion appreciated. It was just a time when people did what they had to do to wear clothing, but it was definitely NOT inspirational. Am I being too harsh? I love that you're doing this btw. :)
